Maori Name: Marari | Scientific Name: Odax pullus
Butterfish are found throughout New Zealand, are more abundant south of East Cape and mainly
in Cook Strait. They live in water usually 5-10m deep, heavy with kelp.
They are almost always found in groups of one male and several females.
