Scientific Name: Arripis trutta, Arripis xylabion
Kahawai are a great sport fish to catch and commonly caught around New Zealand.
They school together in large groups and take bait easily. Can live up to 26 years.
The white fronted tern are sometimes seen when kahawai are hunting.
