Maori Name: Tamure | Scientific Name: Pagrus auratus
Snapper are found in the North Island and upper South Island.
They take 3-5 years to reach 25-30cmto be sexually mature. Spawning through summer,
they usually return to the same breeding grounds each year. Generally live in schools of the
same size, larger snapper are generally loners and can live up to 63 years.
